Pest Control Services Across Yeovil
Pest control isn’t simply about treating the pest you can see.
Properties around Yeovil range from modern housing developments and commercial units to older town properties, rural homes, farms and converted buildings.
Each property can present different opportunities for pests to gain access.
Where appropriate, I’ll investigate:
- What pest is present
- Where activity is occurring
- How the pest may be entering
- Whether there is an underlying cause
- What treatment is appropriate
- Whether proofing or preventative work is required
I provide professional control and treatment for:
Rats • Mice • Wasps • Hornets • Fleas • Moths • Ants • Cockroaches • Flies • Squirrels • Stored-Product Insects and other crawling and flying insects.
If you’re unsure what pest you’ve found, contact me. A clear photograph can often help with initial identification.
Rat Control Yeovil
Rats can become established around residential properties, commercial premises, gardens, bin areas, outbuildings and drainage systems.
Signs of rat activity can include:
- Droppings
- Gnawing damage
- Scratching or movement
- Burrows
- Greasy smear marks
- Damaged food packaging
- Activity around drains
- Activity beneath buildings
Simply controlling the rats currently present may not resolve a recurring problem.
Where possible, I’ll investigate the potential route into the property and look for factors allowing the infestation to continue.
Are Rats Entering Through Your Drains?
Drainage systems can sometimes provide rats with a route towards or beneath a building.
If you’ve experienced repeated rat problems despite previous treatments, investigating the drainage system may be appropriate.
Smyth Pest Control can provide or recommend CCTV drain investigation to help establish whether defects or drainage routes are contributing to the problem.
Where appropriate, rat blockers can also be installed within suitable drainage systems to allow waste to flow while helping prevent rats travelling back towards the property.
Mouse Control Yeovil
Mice can squeeze through extremely small openings and establish themselves inside homes and businesses.
Common areas of activity include:
- Kitchens
- Cupboards
- Behind kitchen units
- Utility rooms
- Wall cavities
- Floor voids
- Loft spaces
- Garages
- Commercial storage areas
My approach isn’t simply to control the mice.
Where accessible, I’ll also look for potential entry points and explain what proofing measures could help reduce the likelihood of further activity.
This can be particularly important where a property has experienced repeated mouse infestations.
Wasp Nest Removal Yeovil
Wasps and hornets are a common seasonal pest-control problem throughout Yeovil and the surrounding villages.
Nests can occur in:
- Roof spaces
- Wall cavities
- Air vents
- Sheds
- Garages
- Outbuildings
- Trees and hedges
- Underground voids
If you’ve discovered an active nest, don’t block the entrance.
Blocking an established nest can potentially cause wasps to search for another route, sometimes towards the inside of a building.
Contact Smyth Pest Control and I’ll advise on the appropriate treatment.
Flea Control Yeovil
Flea infestations can quickly spread through carpets, flooring, furniture and other areas of a property.
Although fleas are frequently associated with cats and dogs, an infestation can remain after the original animal source is no longer present.
Professional treatment involves identifying affected areas and treating the environment appropriately.
I’ll provide preparation and aftercare instructions to help give the treatment the best opportunity to succeed.
Moth Control Yeovil
Carpet and clothes moths can cause considerable damage to carpets, clothing and other materials containing natural fibres.
Moth activity may occur in:
- Carpets
- Wardrobes
- Cupboards
- Beneath furniture
- Around skirting boards
- Stored clothing
- Undisturbed areas
Correct identification and finding the source of an infestation are important.
I provide professional moth-control treatments and advice on the measures required to help bring an infestation under control.
Ant & Crawling Insect Control Yeovil
Ants, cockroaches and other crawling insects require different treatment methods depending on the species and circumstances.
Simply spraying visible insects may not address the underlying infestation.
Correct identification helps determine the appropriate treatment.
If you’re unsure what you’ve found, send me a photograph and I’ll help establish what you’re dealing with.
Squirrel Control Yeovil
Grey squirrels can sometimes enter roof spaces and lofts.
Once inside, they may damage insulation, stored materials and parts of the building.
If you’re hearing unexplained movement or scratching from your roof space, I can investigate suspected squirrel activity and advise on suitable control and proofing measures.

Who Is Smyth Pest Control?
I’m Warren Smyth, owner of Smyth Pest Control.
I’ve worked within the pest-control industry for more than 25 years, dealing with residential and commercial pest problems.
Smyth Pest Control is an independent pest-control business covering Somerset and surrounding parts of Dorset and Devon.
When you contact me, you’re speaking directly to the person who will investigate and deal with your pest problem.
You’re not being passed from a national call centre to an unknown technician.
I believe good pest control means looking beyond simply treating what is visible.
Where possible, I want to understand:
What pest are we dealing with?
Where is it coming from?
How is it getting into the building?
Why is the infestation continuing?
What can be done to help prevent it returning?
That investigative approach can be particularly valuable with recurring rat and mouse problems.
Pest Proofing & Prevention
Removing an existing pest infestation is only part of the solution if pests can simply gain access again.
Where possible, I’ll identify potential entry points and advise on appropriate proofing measures.
These can include areas around:
- Pipe penetrations
- Service entries
- Doors
- Air bricks
- Building defects
- Kitchen units
- Roof spaces
- External walls
- Drainage systems
Not every access point will necessarily be visible or accessible, but identifying and addressing practical opportunities for entry can significantly improve long-term pest management.
